I am an approachable, intuitive, kind, humorous and positive Certified Hypnotherapist, Trauma-Informed Yoga Instructor and Reiki Practitioner. I specialize in Pregnancy Loss/Miscarriage and Birth Trauma, though I have experience in many varying traumas (auto accidents, Dissociative Identity Disorder, sexual abuse, chronic pain, and addiction to name a few).
I started yoga because I had shingles from stress at 26 (way too young!), and my Chiropractor suggested Yoga. I laughed and thought yoga was only for calm, quiet people, which was not me! However, I was in so much pain and desperate for help, I tried it. And I learned that yoga can be for everyone. It helped me manage my stress, and I have been using it as a tool to stay healthy in body, mind, and spirit ever since.
I studied Hatha Yoga and received my 200 hr. YTT in India in 2012. In 2018, I suffered a traumatic miscarriage. As someone who was in touch with my body, I was shocked at how disconnected the experience made me from myself. I knew I had to do something. I began EMDR therapy for myself, and learned about somatic experiencing. This led me to find Trauma-Informed Yoga training and I began working with people who had experienced Pregnancy Loss/Miscarriage. Most recently, I had our rainbow baby (baby after miscarriage), and experienced a traumatic birth. I am currently studying Trauma Conscious Reproductive Health at the Trauma Conscious Yoga Institute to further my knowledge.
I am passionate about helping you to find the healing that already exists within you. I am merely a conduit. As someone who has been through trauma personally, I know what it's like to live with it, and how unbearable it can be.
Will I be awake and aware during a Hypnotherapy session?
Absolutely! In fact, you will likely remember everything that happens. There is a chance you may fall asleep due to being so relaxed, but I see this as a need your body has. The good news is the subconscious mind is always aware.
What levels of yoga do you teach?
Most of my work with yoga is trauma-informed focused which can be very gentle and for all levels. If you are looking for more of a workout I can do that too!
I am trained in Hatha, Restorative, Prenatal, Postnatal, and Vinyasa.
Will you be in control of my mind/body/thinking?
Never. You are always in control. A large part of trauma-informed work is ensuring you are aware of your needs and feel comfortable speaking up if something isn't working for you.
Think of it this way... You are driving the car; I am in the backseat of the car and may ask if you want to go right, but ultimately you decide where you drive.
What if I don't want to share something, or am afraid of a traumatic memory coming up?
Your subconscious mind will only ever share something if it feels comfortable, safe or secure to do so. This is why I take my time earning your trust and ensuring you feel comfortable.
Memories are the same... if your subconscious mind is not ready to look at them or process them, they simply won't come up. Your mind is brilliant about protecting you.
I am not sure about working together yet. What should I do?
No problem! You are welcome to schedule a complimentary consult with me.
